Located 225 miles southwest of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula, the end-of-the-road town of Homer is a favorite Alaskan destination. A four-mile sandy spit extends into Kachemak Bay, and the town is dotted with art galleries, fine restaurants, and an abundance of view-to-die-for lodging places and delightful beachfront camping for those on a budget. The setting provides a spectacular backdrop for weddings and family gatherings, and offers something to please visitors of all ages, particularly those who love the great oudoors. The town is famous for halibut and salmon fishing, brown bear viewing, sea kayaking, and other adventures.
